On Saturday 15th November 2025, 16 ladies and 24 men took on the first cross country race of the season. It was a special event celebrating 100 years of the Birmingham and District XC league, with five men’s and women’s divisions competing at Newbold Comyn, Leamington Spa. The course was challenging, with athletes required to negotiate mud, ditches, hills and a water crossing. Both teams had a successful day, with our ladies’ team finishing a very respectable 14th out of 26 master’s teams overall, our Men’s ‘A’ teams finish 9th out of 21 teams in the senior’s and 11th out of 21 teams in the master’s teams, our Men’s ‘B’ teams finish 5th out of 10 teams in the senior’s and 8th out of 13 teams in the master’s teams.
More importantly, the fantastic DK team spirit was much in evidence too as our runners and their families were out in force on the course supporting their teammates.
Cross country is not just a team discipline but a personal challenge for many runners, so special congratulations are due to the DK athletes who pushed themselves out of their comfort zone to represent the club for the first time. A fantastic day was had by all, and we are already looking forward to our next fixture on the 6th December.
Well done to all those who took part!!!!!
