DOR VIEW
A mixed couple of weeks since I last wrote!
We had worked hard in training before we took on Broadstreet.
With a few positional changes and the main focus being how and where we attacked, the first half saw us make more line breaks and off loads than we had all season. Unfortunately, we still reached half time on the wrong side of the score line. It was almost like half the team had bought into the way we were trying to play, and the other half were still unsure. A frank and open half time chat was had, and we went out and proceeded to win the match.
From a coach’s point of view, it is always great when you see the hard work put into practise on the pitch and everything clicks into place. We went into the following week feeling very positive.
At this level every week brings new and different challenges. We were due to travel over to league leaders Bromsgrove which is always a tough encounter. With seven enforced changes in the match day squad and several walking wounded it only made things more challenging. Fair play to the guys carrying injuries who still pulled on the jersey and put a shift in. Also, to the young guys who came in for their first taste of 1st XV rugby.
Last weeks result has no reflection on the progress we have made this season. Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin, draw a line under it and move on. This is what we will be looking to do this week.
