The DK Bond Scheme was started in the summer and a number of our members have answered the call!

But why buy a Bond?

Well, as you know, DK has some of the best facilities of any junior club in the country, and we are always looking to improve and develop. I remember the main bar the way it used to be, a lot smaller than it is now and a typical rugby club bar. These days we have to be more than that, room hire is a significant money earner for the club. Throughout the year we have many bookings from wakes to weddings, christenings to meetings all of which goes to keeping our club running.

What people don't realise is that DK has significant running costs, heating, lighting and general maintenance, costs a significant amount and rugby alone does not cover the costs so we must look to develop and market our facilities in order to generate income.

Having said this, it is not the only reason. It is also for our members. We now have a clubhouse that matches our fantastic playing facilities with refreshment and catering on at every game. The club has always had a development plan, and the ideas was to phase elements in over time, however, we did not anticipate the problem with the Bar!

The floor has had a bit of a bounce to it for a while and after inspection wood worm was the culprit! It has been held up with metal props, but the damage became too great and there was no waiting, the Bar had to be done!
In the summer DK club members demolished the old bar, leaving a significant hole in the club down into the cellar. Much of the rebuilding was also completed by club members and the new bar came in under budget.

The new patio doors have been a great success! When the doors are open it appears to significantly increase the space, allowing indoors to spill out to the patio area!

So the club is looking to develop this area and extend it out. In fact the club were thinking about this when the floodlights went in! The pitch was moved away from the club which has now given us the option to extend the patio out another couple of meters. Imagine the extended patio area with some nice outdoor furniture!
Now the Penzer Street lounge, to be honest I can't remember it being any different! I am sure it has been re-upholstered, but the look hasn't changed in years. What the club would like to do is give it a make over.
