2 New Must-See pages!

Team Photos:

For as long as anyone can remember DK’s team photos have adorned the walls of the clubhouse. However, after the Bar refurbishment they were moved to the Penzer Street Lounge. But this isn’t the whole story!

When deciding which photos to place on the walls the club went with tradition and it is the DK 1st XV photos that were chosen, we only have a certain amount of wall space!

But what of the other photos, 2nd XV, Wasps, Wanderers, Vixens, Old Boars, touring teams, if we were to put all of them up we are talking over 130+ photos dating back to the early 20’s. But we still wanted to display them, so we went to the only place where there was plenty of room, the internet!

We looked through photos already published on the net, scanned the club’s collection and photos from members private collections. All these photos are now available on this website in one document in chronological order.

However, the story doesn’t stop here! Most of the photos came with a year or season, some we had to check against records and some we made a best guess. We have also tried to put names to people, but gaps appear. This is where you come in! Do you recognise someone, or a team and can give us the information we need to complete the document? Do you have a photo that doesn’t appear? If you do, we would love to add it to this record, please send any photos and or information to admin@dk-rfc.co.uk each page is numbered to help identify the photo.

DKRFC - A Brief History

Now, this document has already been available online for some time, but it is now different. Whilst researching another article Bob McMaster met with the decedents of Fred Fry, one of our founding members, this led to Exeter Chiefs, the RFU Museum, Camp Hill and many other documents and sources. All in all, it meant that the original History of DK had to be re-written!

We are aware that there may be other sources of information out there that we haven’t seen, but as of this moment, with the sources that we have, we believe this to be the most accurate history of DK that we can put together.
